Evolving Design System to Elevate Inbox Experience

Sonesta International Hotels is the 8th largest hotel company in the world with 17 brands in the portfolio and over 1,200 hotels. Managing a brand portfolio of this size while delivering a differentiated experience is no small task. To streamline email marketing campaign development, Sonesta was looking to redesign their corporate email templates to develop a modular system and a complete component library that would elevate consumer inbox experience and streamline execution at the same time.

Single source, mobile-first modular system

We developed an email wireframe library that offered product managers across the brand portfolio a variety of modules to meet various communication needs. At the same time, on the development side, the library of components had a single built with styling rules applied per each brand’s guidelines which eliminated the need to develop custom pieces and overall maintain greater consistency across brand materials.

Refreshed look and feel

Once the component library was signed off on, we developed designs for each brand that utilized the new brand guidelines and drove the individual look & feel for each brand.
